Even minor wear, taper, or ovality can severely affect engine performance, leading to increased vibrations, loss of efficiency, and unexpected breakdowns. To prevent such issues, on-site crankshaft grinding and polishing have become an essential service for operators worldwide. Recently, a complete in-situ repair operation was carried out on a Sulzer Engine Z 40/48 , which required precision grinding and polishing of its 330 mm diameter crankpin.
